{Apologies for concentrating on Andi but he is my character and I'm kind of assuming those with other characters are running their own thing. :)}
Ancient history...
The back story starts with an unrequited love. (say ahhh)
A certain well know female biochemist is desperately trying to earn the attention of the love of her life, a even more famous C.E.O. of a Pan galactic corporation. Unfortunately he is so wrapped up in his own schemes he has little interest in her other than a bed warmer (Thanks tim)However she knows that there is a part of his plan missing due to the untimely departure of some old friends. As a result she sets her self the task of 'breeding' a new race of 'killneck.'
Being a woman and capable of holding more than one concept in her mind she actually sets a number of attempts in progress, but for my part of the story we need only concern our selves with one of them. [In other words feel free to take this plot hook an play with it]
A little over 10 years ago one of the genetic manipulation based projects made a major break through. They manage to produce a consistant techniques for producing a viable cell line from a three way cell fusion of Human, stormer and ebon cell samples. [Note to you non-cell biologists out there.. This is very clever and bloody hard]
The stormer and Ebon cell lines used were identical for all the clones, (A standard Intruder derived cell line and Ebon DNA from a researcher on the project called Dr Godfrey) but the human genetic data (which provided little more than the physical appearance) varied. The project force grew up 26 of these embryos to the age of 10 and then, after implantation of some basic memories, integrated them with 24 human male orphans of the same age..This group of 50 were brought up together with a constantly changing group of 'adult' human carers to enforce them to imprint on each other.
Six years later 25 of the boys, (now known as the Core) were transferred to Meny to begin their training, and the human orphans now surplus to requirements were released back out into the community to fend for themselves.A few weeks later some one realized they were missing one of their prototypes.
Using contacts from all over the place our biochemical 'heroine' managed to gain the unwitting services of a certain stigmata agent and sent him into down town to locate the missing subject. Briefed with "locate him and bring him back to the fold by any means that will work with out gaining his suspicion", Alexi Carter Smith took a year to track down the virtually nameless individual they lost. It took another year to gain his trust to the extent that he would consider signing up for Meny so it was some time after the rest of his 'class mates' completed their training that 'Prototype A' finally commence his training.
Realizing there was little point in reintegrate him into the Core, initially they bounced him round a large number of squads to give him as much experience of SLA and operatives as possible. Eventually, due in part to a beurocratic error, He was assigned to a Squad called the Misfits, lead by Richard Godfrey, who, as blind luck would have it, was the only child of the researcher Dr Godfrey whose Cells had been used in the Cell fusion.
Meanwhile, a Dark night computer hacker known as Snapper appeared on sla-ce taunting us. Hidden in one of his messages was a plea to defect.
NWO formed out of those active on the list to 'apprehend' said individual. It included Rich and Andi from Misfits (which, due mostly to personality clashes, had pulled its selves apart), Quin from Blue Murder and a Wraith Media op called Simba (And a couple of other people, whos name I can't recall)
This plot line was never really completed but Snapper did vanish. Whether Quin picked him up, or he was grabbed by cloak or taken out by other DN's I've never been sure of. Actually for this plotline it doesn't matter. The point is he has vanished, his old cell is a bit upset by this and they believe NWO are responsible..
Meanwhile Andi gets friendly with an Echo. ( Another plotline that unfortunately vanished). After some emlightening discussions with about her the nature of the universe, Quin and Rich realise that he seems to be using some form of eb power and in an attempt to "help", (and using Quins mind control abilities), get him into a type II death suit. (A freddy interdermalises as a free be- can't take it off one) Andi of course knows nothing of this.
Unfortunately the death suits flux interferes with Andi's unusual cell biology and advances his MS (A design flaw in the project that produced him.- Unlike the 'programed control' problem he has in Zero G) As a result he collapses just before he is due to go to new paris with Simba's band.
After something of a panicked confusion at the hospital he is initially taken to, he is whisked away to different facility where certain modifications are made, and the death suit replaced with a different non-standard type which will not cause the problems he has had. (Think it might be a stigmata type deathsuit, or it could be a totally novel one designed for his project.)
He is later dropped off at AVS with no idea what happened.Still later Quin sends a strange message to the list which results in Andi and Rich doing a mad dash to meny. This is fortunate as it means they are not in AVS when dark night blow it up. Andi in a complete panic on hearing the news manages to re write reality and bring Alexi back from the dead.
Understandably Stigmata move in but are called off by those higher up the chain as they assume andi achieved this unknowingly and do not wish to trigger another "incident" which could make him aware of what he can do.
[It is perhaps important to explain her that Andi's chief advantage in life is that people will always under estimate him- Unfortunately this also applies to himself] Besides it did just save the life of one of their mates so they are not that bothered.I'm assuming the later part of this sub plot will be covered by Ed in DEDE so I'll just say it ends with quin going Nec
Some time later part of NWO [Andi, Rich and Mags] ended up doing a Red BPN for a "bloke a called Virgil" To rescue Slayers diaries from a Thresher attack. Rich got blown away by a Thresher cannon, Mags ended up on Static and Andi ended up under a SCAF. [This was a 'table top game' run by Morton]
Virgil pulled a few contacts and got Rich "LADed" using a system called The Vault. However the returning Rich bares only a superficial resemblance to the old rich and Andi is convinced that 'Rich' is really a plant by Virgil. (Hense all the tea - coffee stuff, but I digress...)
Opal was sent to the hospital to put Andi back together and got her hands on his medical notes. Realizing there was something 'non standard' about him, she whisked and unconscious Andi and Caleb out of there and delivered them to daddy. As a result Shiro (Quins dad) got to get a really good look at Andi, and more importantly Andi's genetic and cell structure. After yet more modifications Andi and Caleb are taken home by Opal with no one remembering what actually happened.
Shiro reported back to the clan and it was decided they should gain control over this 'asset'.Meanwhile Dark Night have narrowed down who was responsible for snappers disappearance. (Not sure if it was the same lot that blew up AVS) They first take Simba, as a media they expect him to be a good source of information. Unfortunately he knows nothing. (This is the plot line Dark tide are currently on).
Seeing as the rest of NWO are all combat proficient some one decided Andi is the next best target. The also hope that, being close to Quin they can use him to blackmail some information. However they are stupid enough to attack Andi when he is test driving the Quicksilver so they are less than successful. (this is the missing film footage sub plot).
By listening in on the sla-ce list the Dark night cell are able to keep track of what is going on.
Knowing that Andi and a large number of potential hostages (the kids from the A&A I. creche & Caleb) are going to the park they sensibly decided that they can take him out there. (Un)fortunately they are completely ignorant as to the capabilities of Opal (Not surprisingly seeing as even her own Brother doesn't know what she can do) As a result there plan fails.(The U3 review and the breaking news subplot.)
However it does give Opal a chance to 'kidnap' Andi using to cover of taking him for urgent medical treatment and take him to meet "the family"...Our story starts as he comes round after that attack.
But that you have to wait for cos I'm still writing it.
