Another bit of weirdness for your wop..
Ripped shamelessly out of my game at sla-con. Mostly Max's idea so blame
him.
:)
In the commercial world that is SLA there are many potential buyers and potential exists for numerous niche markets. "Fat" Jack Mcalley spotted one when he started Fat Jacks Klippo shack in 786SD. The shop, selling only klippo lighters became The place on Mort to buy these popular lighters, and the only place to stock all ranges of colours and designs. Other out lets across the city rapidly closed down, and "Fat" Jack was able to buy the Mort wide exclusive supply deal in 801SD. In 820 SD SLA Industries decision to supply Klippos to all their operatives necessitated them buy out this deal. Fat Jack by this time was well into his 50's and looking for a nest egg. He agreed a deal with SLA that most financiers found laughable. However written into the deal was a remarkably smart sub clause that has set up fat jack and his descendants for life.
Fat Jacks Franchises, run by Tracy Mccalley - Fat Jacks granddaughter- have an unusual monopoly on Mort. They are allowed to set up small 'shacks' in any part of SLA industries domain without application for planning permission, installation tax, or any other considerations, under the following conditions:
- The shack specialises in one item, although differing designs, colours and manufactures are allowed.
- The shack is the only one selling that item in any one 'domain'. Usually city or planet.
- The shack is no more than 100 sq m of shop floor.
- The title of the store must be "Fat Jacks ------ shack."
Every PPP contract gives Fat jacks a new range of outlets. Freed of the normal complex red tape they are always one of the first SLA backed outlets to open on any new 'domain'. As a result when visitors from off Mort come to the planet they are one of the 'familiar' sites of home. Insuring a constant supply of customers.
Also in the last 100 years many forward thinking shop keeps have spotted franchise 'holes' and approached "Fat Jacks Franchise" for backing to set up a new specialist "shack". As a result almost every product is now covered some where in Mort. [Fat Jacks find it shack in central helps people locate the shack they require in the expanse of the city.]
In game - Next time your players say "where can I buy X?" You reply "fat jacks X shack" and think of the most close and convenient/ remote and difficult location for it- depending on how bad a day you have had.
