Cult of slayer

by Brandon W. Dust

“So there we were, somewhere in Lower Downtown. No, I told you, I don’t know where. Look, we had fallen through a floor or two, were running away from Carrien and Pigs, and got caught in a goddamned floor. I was confused, disoriented.

So anyway, Ardor, our medic, got his stupid ebon ass killed by the Carrien, and McCallister shot something up and charged the Pigs as we made our escape. Said it was an honorable way to go. So it was me and the Stormer, Tank, running down this walkway, and right as we were crossing a gap, the walkway collapsed, and we landed in this pit-thing filled with sharpen metal poles. I had to use the last of the KS. Tank was in rough shape, but I figured he can grow back. I can’t.

I think I passed out, cause all of a sudden I saw these faces, these horrible faces. They had cut their noses off. And all the flesh around the noses was diseased and infected and stank. When I saw the white steaks in their hair, I started screaming. When I saw their teeth filed down to points and they started to bite me, I passed out.

No, I don’t know how I ended up in CS 1. No, I can’t remember. Can I go now?”

Deep in the bowels of Lower Downtown, the cult of Slayer is growing. The cult is mainly comprised of humans, though the occasional feral ebb user can be found in their ranks. The members ritualistically cut off their noses, and file their teeth. However, as disease runs rampant in Lower Downtown, their faces and mouths are an infected and rotting. Some sects also use caustic industrial chemicals to bleach a section of their hair to match their idol and god, Mr. Slayer. As the mutilations vary from sect to sect, it is unknown if each physical alteration is supposed to represent anything. Some have speculated that the higher ranking the cultist, the more they have transformed themselves.

One unusual aspect of these cultists is the claim that they can “taste subversion.” Once they have captured an Operative, they will proceed to bite and eat parts of their bodies. If after doing this the cultist feel the Op is “loyal,” he will be set free. If they are deemed “subversive” it is speculated that the Operative is killed and fed upon. At this point Chipped Operatives have always been set free. It is unknown if this is coincidence, or if the cultist actually can taste subversion.

Just another idea that came to me after the post about a Pro-Slayer cult. Use, enjoy, or throw out.
