The happy ending.

Nathaniel was no-where to be seen, I righted myself slowly, painfully, and tried to stand. From the remains of the corridor, a quiet footfall was heard. I turned to face whatever it was.

Nathaniel stood there, the children behind him, all of the children. I looked over in shock and dropped one hand to Walters shoulder. He glanced around to see his son standing there, alive and well, then collapsed in a dead faint, the emotion of the moment too much for him. The children ran forwards to cluster around us, several of them easing Walter to a sitting position.

"H-How" I managed to slur
Peter and Nathaniel stood before me, almost to attention, ready to explain. "You left me in charge miss" said peter "When nathaniel came to the door and said that he'd got the mascot, I figured that you'd want to us to meet you in the courtyard, at the fire drill place. So we were halfway across the hall when the bad man came through the roof, we stayed there and hid while nathaniel and logan came to find you"
I leaned against the wall, closing my eyes
"Did I do right miss?" Peter continued, mistaking my pain for disapproval. "Yes Peter" it is a tired smile on my face now "You did right"
