Just a short story whilst bored at work.

'Revalation'

I'm sitting on this roof top with the rain thrashing through my hair. I don't know how long I've been up here and my clothes are sodden and cling to my skin.

I'm getting cold now. It's hard to hold on.

The cars and taxis below me are small dots of light and everyone is carrying on with their lives unhindered by my knowledge.

An Operative calls to me from someway behind. Her honeysuckle voice a mere whisper against the rain and is drowned by the one thought in my head.

The world was such a big place before my realisation. Now it is as hollow as the TV we are forced to obey.

There is a way for me now. A way to finish this

I bring my hand to my face and cover my eyes but the image of what I've seen cannot be so easily avoided.

An operative reaches for me, desperately trying to earn a reward by bringing me back to safety. I speak a word and she falls from the perch. One word.

As she spirals downward I can hear her honey scream dwindle and dwindle till a walkway silences her.

Her colleagues behind me are shouting now. Sweet words no longer

I rise to my feet, unsteady and shaking.

I turn towards them and see guns raised. They are telling me to get down from the roof or they'll shoot me. I see the fault with their logic even though they cannot.

The wind is rocking me and I turn away from them.

Looking below me I see salvation.

I will not suffer anymore.
