Hi folks,
Welcome to the second of the monthly Cubicle 7 and SLA Industries Status Reports.
This month we have a brief update on the SLA Industries releases we announced last month, some information on the brand new game that we'll be releasing in the 2nd Quarter of 2004, a request for retailer details (which could win someone some goodies!), ways you can mail order SLA Industries if you are currently finding it hard to acquire the books locally and also a little charity from Cubicle 7 and Nightfall Games to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of a new one!
---------
RETAILER OPEN CALL + COMPETITION
Send us details of your local store and you could win a SLA Industries book of your choice! For every store we are sent details of up until January 31st 2004 you will be entered into a free draw in which you can win one of back catalogue of books (including the Hardback rulebook for SLA) or a copy of Hunter Sheets: Issue 1 or the Cannibal Sector One Sourcebook upon release!
The list that you will help us create will be used to compile a database to allow us to directly keep the retailer informed of what we're doing and also to direct others to stores in their areas which can supply them with our goodies. It will also form the beginning of our Retailers Page on our forthcoming website.
The details we need are the following:
Name of Store
Full Address (including ZIP or Post Code, State and Country)
Telephone Number
Email Address (if applicable)
Web Site (if applicable)
If you can let us know if they already stock SLA Industries that will be a bonus but is not essential.
Please send the above information to me at Angus@cubicle7.freeserve.co.uk and include RETAILER in the Subject Line.
Cubicle 7 is pleased to announce that we have acquired the English language rights to Frankenstein Factory. Originally published by Polish company Portal, who were also responsible for the acclaimed De Profundis game, Frankenstein Factory a horror game where you play Frankenstein's Children. In a converted mansion near the Victorian town of Shalleymouth Doctor Victor Frankenstein has built a factory where he brings to life his experiments, the unnatural creatures, his 'Children', on an assembly line. More concerned in continuously experimenting, pulling levers and scribbling formulas than actually caring for his creations his Children are left to explore the Factory and beyond with only his faithful servant Igor and a cast of others including Bonobo and the Nursery School Lady to 'guide' them.
Characters are made up of various body parts and have four stats which relate to a particular part of their body -Mind (Head), Agility (Arms), Strength (Torso) and Speed (Legs). Some of these parts will contain special abilities or disabilities which may help or hinder them on their explorations.
Frankenstein Factory is an incredibly easy-to-learn game in the 'New
Style' tradition made popular by Hoghead Publishing. Brought to life by
the sinister front and interior artwork of Dave Allsop it is visually
stunning as well as a disturbing good game.
Release Date: 2nd Quarter 2004
HUNTER SHEETS: Issue 1
All the artwork, writing and editing for Hunter Sheets is now complete
and, after a quick final proof read it's off to layout land. If this
product is well received we're planning on doing further Issues of
Hunter Sheets in-between the larger sourcebooks in 2005. Each issue will
also contain info on a new Conflict Alien race emerging in the World of
Progress.
Release Date: 2nd Quarter 2004
CANNIBAL SECTOR ONE SOURCEBOOK
We've received the manuscript for CS One and have begun the editing
process. Penned by the Origins-Award Winning James 'Grim' Desborough
(The Munchkin's Guide to Power Gaming - Steve Jackson Games), and with
cover and interior art by the immensely talented Clint Langley (Slaine -
2000AD; Celtos - I-Kore) we feel that this is the best SLA Industries
Sourcebook to date. Dave Allsop (Armageddon - Eden Studios; Red Wedding,
Shadowfist - Z-Man Games) is furiously scribbling lots of additional
artwork and we hope to have the whole book fully illustrated, edited and
ready for layout by the end of February. Expect to be blown away!
Release Date: 3rd Quarter 2004 (Early)
SLA INDUSTRIES WORLD GUIDE 1 - JACINTO
Work on the Jacinto World Guide is due to commence at the beginning of
February and is being written and illustrated by SLA Industries creator
Dave Allsop.
Release Date: 3rd Quarter 2004
SLA INDUSTRIES WORLD GUIDE 2 - XAIME
Tim Dedopulos (Brujah Clan Trilogy - White Wolf; various Unknown Armies
Sourcebooks) is on board for writing duties and we're talking to one of
the original SLA Artists Brian 'Chippy' Dugan (Iron Kingdoms - Privateer
Press) about doing the cover and interior artwork.
Release Date: 4th Quarter 2004
WHITE EARTH RPG + SOURCEBOOK
Dave will be starting on White Earth after Jacinto and it'll pretty much
be a fulltime endeavour until its completion. White Earth will be both a
stand-alone RPG and a SLA Industries Sourcebook, allowing GM's and
Players to incorporate it into their existing SLA Industries campaigns
or run it from scratch. We are hoping to be able to publish this
Hardback book in full colour but are waiting to see how things pan out
on that front.
Release Date: 4th Quarter 2004 (Late)

Hi folks,
Welcome to the first of the monthly SLA Industries Status Reports.
Here at Nightfall HQ we are planning on writing up progress reports to be mailed to the SLA Industries Fan List (Station Analysis station-analysis-subscribe@topica.com) as well as to be circulated around news sites, etc. So please feel free to forward these posts to people or sites that may be interested in finding out what we're up too!
The aim of these reports is to keep you all updated with the progress and news on SLA Industries itself and the companies supporting it. So without further ado let's start wetting your appetite for the future....
SLA's been through two of the biggest and most respected publishers in the RPG Industry during it's ten year lifespan. It's safe to say that without the support that both Wizards of the Coast and Hogshead Publishing showed the game during its time with them the game might not be around today. When James Wallis decided to bow out of the RPG industry and sell Hogshead Publishing on the license to publish SLA Industries reverted back to Nightfall Games Limited. We had been given a heads up from James a few months in advance of the final closure so had time to start thinking about the games future.
At the same time as SLA was returning to Nightfall Dave Allsop (SLA's creator) and myself (Angus Abranson) were in the process of starting up a new publishing company called Cubicle 7 Entertainment. It was our aim to use Cubicle 7 to publish some new ideas that we, and others, had floating around in development as well as translating some of the best foreign language games into English and supporting some existing well-known brands through third-party publishing licenses. We've been working on building up the company and it's first years worth of releases for the best part of twelve months and now, finally, have all of cogs oiled and in place.
It was decided that the best vehicle to promote SLA Industries would be Cubicle 7 Entertainment. Especially as this way Dave can take the reins as Line Developer on SLA and help give everyone the nightmares they deserve. We (Cubicle 7) are fully committed to taking SLA Industries into the future and are looking forward to building the game where Wizards of the Coast and Hogshead left off.
We are planning on releasing a series of books starting with Hunter Sheets Issue 1 in late Spring 2004. What follows are tasters of each of the titles currently planned for a 2004 release. More about estimated release dates, page counts, prices, etc will appear in future Station Analysis Reports and we hope to bring you previews of some of the artwork when the website is fully up and running (which should be by the end of the year).
That's all for this month. If you would like to contact us please direct your emails to me at Angus@cubicle7.freeserve.co.uk
Until next month, Stay SLA!
