Designed for field repairs, I have developed two products..
One is under fire and the other is if you have a few moments of down time.
Armour-aid is an activated polymer patch. It comes in rolls like tape with backing on it. You shear off the length you need, pull off the backing, slap it over the damaged area and smooth it down. Then you take out the aerosol can of activator, spray it over the patch area. 30 seconds later the patch has hardened and bonded to the damaged area, sealing it. The patch once set and hardened, has a PV of 6. The patched area is as rigid or flexible as the original area it is used on, but it is not designed for joint areas.
Warning, the patch is not intended for extended use, and has a life of 72 hours. After that time has expired, the patch will break down at the rate of one PV point per 2 hours. When all the PV has been expended, the patch will crumble and fall off. Due to the nature of the bonding agent, another patch cannot be used on the same area. In addition, once this has happened, you subtract 3 points from the PV of the area where the patch has been applied.
[Overt purpose-once armor has been breached, it's useless anyway and you have to have that section replaced. This is just designed as a quick field repair, so the Operative can get back into action quickly.]
- Cost:
- 200c/2m roll of adhesive w/1 spray can of activator.
165c for the roll of adhesive alone
75c for a can of activator
This is a product similar to the "Fix-a-Flat" spray for reparing holes in tires. The substance is a liquid nano-polymer resin that sets on contact with air. This is intended for use with bullet holes or puncture damage for armor in situations where the armor can be removed for a short time.
The armor piece is removed, then an adhesive patch is placed on the inside of the section over the hole. Then from the front, you take the can, insert the flexible nozzle into the hole as far as possible and depress the trigger on the nozzle head. The best procedure is to slowly remove the nozzle end as the resin fills the hole. Once the hole is completely filled, you then place another patch over the other end, smoothing it in contour with the rest of the armor section. Wait three minutes and then remove the outer patch and the breach is repaired.
The armor is restored to it's normal PV but the hole only has a PV of 6, but it's a -10 to hit that exact spot where the repair is. This is a permanent repair and is only designed for hard, shell-type armor. Each can is good for 6 uses.
- Cost:
- 300c/per can
Play with the price amounts or the quantity of the stuff to fit your game. But my players appreciated its being introduced into the game and don't bitch too much about the price (I run a low economy level game. Those prices are high in my WoP).
